About us

• Foundation of the company RECK

RECK-Technik GmbH & Co. KG was founded on 1st of May 1957 by Anton Reck. In 1970 his cardiac disease induced Mr. Reck to develop a movement therapy unit. Regular contact with specialized physicians, therapists and hospitals has led to a continuous development of the RECK MOTOmed, which has been introduced world wide meanwhile. The company RECK is the world wide innovation and marketing leader of motor driven movement therapy systems.

• The MOTOmed

The MOTOmed is a motorized MovementTherapySystem which is used in rehabilitation centres, clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, physical therapy clinics and at home. This therapeutic cycle trainer is especially geared towards people in wheelchairs, people with limited walking abilities or patients confined to bed with neurological illnesses (Stroke, MS, SCI, CP, …).

• Therapy goals of MOTOmed
The MOTOmed MovementTherapy reaches goals as following listed:
- Reducing spasticity and becoming more flexible
- Counteracting the consequences of a lack of movement
- Rediscovering residual muscle strength
- Promoting walking ability
- Strengthening the sense of mental well-being

• Specialties of MOTOmed

1. You can use it from your wheelchair or a regular chair.
2. It provides a passive training with motor to reduce spasticity and to obtain flexibility.
3. It provides motor assisted active training (ServoCycling). Patients with little muscle strength can cycle actively.
4. It provides active training to obtain and to build up the muscle strength.

• Models of the MOTOmed

- MOTOmed viva1 (leg- and/or arm trainer)
- MOTOmed viva2 (leg- and/or arm trainer) with big display
- MOTOmed gracile12 (for children)
- MOTOmed letto (for patients confined to bed)

MOTOmed – motorized movement therapy systems

MOTOmed – Motorized MovementTherapySystems for physiotherapy and rehabilitation. The MOTOmed is a therapeutic cycle trainer especially geared towards people in wheelchairs, people with limited walking abilities, patients confined to bed and patients with neurological illnesses(Stroke, MS, SCI, CP…).

The MOTOmed provides passive training for moving the legs with motor to reduce spasticity, making the legs moveable. It provides as well an active-assisted training for people with less muscle strengths. Finally if patients need to train and strengthen their muscles the MOTOmed provides an active training against an adjustable resistance.

The MOTOmed is available for training the legs and arms and is used in rehabilitation centers, clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, physical therapy clinics and at home.

For adult persons with special needs the MOTOmed viva1 or viva2 is suitable. Those two models mainly differ in the display. While the MOTOmed viva1 has a smaller remote control, the MOTOmed viva2 has a large cockpit with big buttons.

For children and for patients confined to bed there are specially developed machines (see below).

More information about the MOTOmed is available at the “Medica 2007” in Düsseldorf / Germany (November 14 – 17, 2007) at booth C48, hall 4 of the company RECK-Technik GmbH & Co. KG or at www.motomed.com.

MOTOmed gracile12 for children with special needs

Children with spastic paralysis –
new therapy method promises success!

The new motorized movement therapy machine MOTOmed gracile now offers physically handicapped children new therapy opportunities. It is equipped with a motor and provides software specifically designed for children with paralysis and spasticity.

Therewith disabled children can have their legs (or arms/upper body) moved daily independently or with the help of a parent. This can be done from a regular chair or a wheelchair. The harmonic, rhythmic rotation of the specific drive allows loosening up of the muscles and a reduction of spasticity. Joints, tendons and ligaments can be kept flexible. Particularly efficient is the MOTOmed Therapy if the child can apply existing residual muscle strength by pedaling harmonically with the help of the “ServoCycling” function like when riding a bicycle.

More information about the pediatric machine MOTOmed gracile12 is available at the “Medica 2007″ in Düsseldorf / Germany (November 14- 17, 2007) at booth C48, hall 4 of the company RECK-Technik GmbH & Co. KG or at www.motomed.com.

MOTOmed letto – Mobilization for patients confined to bed

Movement is important – particularly to patients confined to bed. Often and independent of the diseases, the patients are suffering from the consequences of the lack of movement like problems with the blood circulation, the heart- and circulation activity, bladder and bowel problems, thrombosis and contractures.

With the motorized movement therapy system MOTOmed letto it is possible to mobilize the patients every day and counteract the consequences of a lack of movement. The therapy system offers a soft, gentle and secure daily movement.

The MOTOmed letto provides several therapy options:
1. Passive training with motor
2. Assistive active training with motor support
3. Active training against an adjustable resistance

With the special TrainCare leg guides even coma-patients and leg paralysed patients are able to train. The TrainCare with the softly padded lower leg guides hold the legs safely, prevents them from unintentional lateral movement and from overstretching and blocking.

More information about the MOTOmed letto is available at the “Medica 2007” in Düsseldorf / Germany (November 14 – 17, 2007) at booth C48, hall 4 of the company RECK-Technik GmbH & Co. KG or at www.motomed.com.

Symmetry Training

New option in the rehabilitation of stroke patients

The MOTOmed MovementTherapySystems of the RECK company, Betzenweiler/Germany are used by patients with neurological disorders (stroke, MS, TBI…). The MOTOmed viva2 now offers an interesting therapy completion in treatment and rehabilitation of stroke patients:
the SymmetryTraining.

While the patient trains actively with own muscle strength, the visual feedback for the SymmetryTraining appears on the large screen of the operating panel.

By the use of the SymmetryTraining function, compensatory patterns can be specifically avoided through the MOTOmed Training (as the patient gets visual feedback about the activity of the left and right leg and can concentrate on training his/her weaker side). Additionally, the walking ability of the patient can be improved as the patient can train to apply and use the affected side consciously. Moreover, muscle strength can be built up and endurance can be improved by daily MOTOmed training.

More information about the MOTOmed and the SymmetryTraining are available at the “Medica 2007” in Düsseldorf / Germany (November 14 – 17, 2007) at booth C48, hall 4 of the company RECK-Technik GmbH & Co. KG or at www.motomed.com.
