MENZEL
The trade mark, MENZEL-GLÄSER, represents the best quality and experience in the world glass market today. It is associated with the most complete range of products in the field of microscope slides and cover slips.
Founded in Germany, MENZEL was once part of Carlswerk, a glass company in Lommatsch, later headquartered in Braunschweig after World War II. It was in Braunschweig that the first microscope slides and cover slips were manufactured in 1951. Many years experience with glass production coupled with entrepreneurial resolve soon made MENZEL the leading manufacturer of microscope slides and other specialty glass.
In July 1985, ERIE SCIENTIFIC COMPANY in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, USA, a company with over 50 years experience manufacturing slides and cover slips, incorporated MENZEL into its enterprise. MENZEL also maintains other sister companies. A glass plant in Romont, Switzerland – ERIE ELECTROVERRE – supplies ERIE SCIENTIFIC COMPANY and MENZEL with raw material for glass production. With the most modern technical installations at its disposal, ERIE ELECTROVERRE manufactures high-grade, flat glass with a very low iron content. Other MENZEL processing facilities are located in Hungary, Puerto Rico and Hong Kong.

Adhesion microscope slides 07.11.2007
Adhesion microscope slides from MENZEL are well established glass products that place an advanced adhesive surface on standard microscope slides. These slides provide superior cell and tissue adhesion and save money and laboratory time by eliminating the need for expensive adhesives and time-consuming coating techniques. Menzel Adhesion microscope slides are offered under four different categories
Diagnostic Slides 07.11.2007
MENZEL diagnostic slides are particularly successful for two primary reasons. On the one hand, they are extremely versatile in their application because they come in 10 standard executions. Secondly, these diagnostic slides exhibit great longevity. The printed coating on Menzel diagnostic slides wears so well that they withstand test procedures without losing their water-resistant properties. Also, they stand up well to solvents and multiple treatments in sterilizers.
Comprised of extra-white glass measuring 25 x 75 x 1 mm, these slides in all styles and sizes have 90º ground edges to prevent cuts during handling. Labelling is easy with MENZEL diagnostics slides as the standard white SuperFrost® end of the slide is a perfect writing field. Another desirable element of these particular slides is MENZEL’s ability to meet special requirements. Custom orders for special colors and designs are not a problem.
Many known laboratories and institutes already took the opportunity and had their custom specific diagnostic slides being designed.
Microscope Slides 07.11.2007
MENZEL microscope slides are available in standard sizes: 1.0 mm thick in dimensions of 26 x 76 mm (ISO Norm 8037/I) Microscope slides with special thicknesses, dimensions and tolerances are also available.
MENZEL microscope slides are manufactured from extra white glass.
SuperFrost® Microscope Slides 07.11.2007
An innovative advance in microscope slides! SuperFrost® slides offer accurate specimen classification necessary in modern laboratories.
SuperFrost® microscope slides come with a light opaque coating in seven standard colors; white, blue, pink, yellow, green, purple and orange. Each color codes different specimens at a glance according to urgency, processing or staining technique, for example. Resistant to commonly used laboratory solvents, SuperFrost® slides are also resistant to scratching or sticking when stacked together.
To ensure easy identification, SuperFrost® label areas are on the top of the microscope slide, so it is easy to find the “right” side.
SuperFrost® microscope slides are available with cut, ground 90º or 45º and bevelled edges. Like all MENZEL microscope slides, SuperFrost® slides are high quality and ready to use right out of the pack.
SuperFrost® microscope slides can also be offered with individual labelling for laboratories and hospitals
