The Osteocore is a DEXA (dual energy X-ray absorptiometry) bone densitometry unit, conceived to comply with all the demanding needs of practitioners. Combining accuracy, simplicity and low cost, the Osteocore is well suited for office use.

Overview

Pencil Beam: The technology reference
The Osteocore uses the pencil beam technology which has proven to be the reference mode in bone densitometry measurements. Its scanning process does not distort or magnify the image, making it tthe most accurate method to reliably evaluate bone mineral density.

Multisite examination
The Osteocore permits the following main site exams: lumbar spine, femoral neck, trocanter, Ward’s triangle and forearm.

Ergonomic design
From its folding examination table to its pivoting arm to it’s castor wheels, the Osteocore’s elements were conceived by taking into consideration a practitioner’s needs for compactness and mobility. The Osteocore’s design also assures comfort by providing extra patient positioning accessories, thus making the examination a much more pleasant experience.

100% Automated process & user friendly software
Its 100% automated system and its user friendly environment drastically facilitates the diagnostic procedure. But the Osteocore’s largest advantage is without a doubt its software. Based in a Windows® environmenrt, the Osteocore software allows a color display of data with all the analysis results, reference curves, scanned images, and operator comments.

Patient Reporting

Osteocore 3 27.09.2007

Overview

Thanks to a prestigious collaboration between Medilink and CEA-LETI, an international imagery laboratory, the Osteocore 3 is the first bi-dimensional DEXA bone densitometer.

The Osteocore 3 introduces a technological revolution: the Digital Flash Beam® is the new “cutting egde” and is replacing traditional fan beam technology.

The Osteocore 3 is a bi-dimentional multisite / total body bone densitometer. In the domain of X-ray absorptiometry, the Digital Flash Beam® technology is a real innovation and it provides an unequalled quickness of the examination, an optimization of the radiation dose, an excellent precision as well as a radiology-type quality of image.
Newness

DIGITAL FLASH BEAM® (DFB)

The Digital Flash Beam® consists of a 2 dimension flash for a 1,5 second exposure. This flash eliminates the scanning process that other technologies, like the Pencil Beam or Fan Beam, are based on.

The Digital Flash Beam® allows :

A velocity of the examination 40 times superior to traditional technologies.
An exceptional image: a radiological type image facilitates the identification of bone outlines and gives access to morphometrical information.
An unequalled precision
Minimum reduction of patient and user radiation doses.
The DFB methodology has been developed in close collaboration with the CEA/LETI (The Atomic Energy Center & The Electronic Laboratory of Technologies & Instrumentation)

SCOUT SCAN : AUTOMATIC PATIENT POSITIONING

The examination area repositioning is performed in SEV (Single Energy Viewing), thus reducing the amount of unusable examinations and the patient radiation dose.
This system also permits to decrease the acquisition field, allowing for ROI (Region Of Interest) optimisation.

Osteospace 27.09.2007

Since more and more drug therapies are now available for the treatment of osteoporosis, bone status assessment is an important part of women’s health care.

Ultrasound Bone Densitometry is a “radiation free”, transportable, economical solution for the evaluation of skeletal status.

Multiple scientific studies have shown that the calcaneus bone of the heel is well correlated to the hip, one of the most frequent sites for osteoporosis fracture.

Success Story

Demineralization of bone is one of the side effects that astronauts experienced after their long stays in space. The Osteospace was derived from the Space Instrument developed by Matra-Marconi-Space and GIP Ultrasound under an ESA contract, which has successfully flown on board the Russian MIR station. Today it is developed by Medilink. This very precise tool, thanks to its moving probes, remains an unrivalled combination of performance, reliability and reproducibility to control bone structure modification.

The Osteospace dry ultrasound bone densitometer: when accuracy is the key…
Radiation Free: The examinations are non ionizing.

Dry system: Ultrasonic gel is used so that the results do not vary due to water temperature. This method is very hygienic and easy to use.

Examination performed on the calcaneous bone: The calcaneous bone is the preferred peripheral site proven in numerous studies to predict fracture risk.

Compact and transportable unit (minimum bulk, with wheels): The unit’s size is dedicated to suiting the needs of private practices or clinics.

Accuracy and reproducibility: Using the manual mode, the transducers can be positioned to reproduce the same ROI (Region of Interest) for registered patients. Using an anatomical reference (Maleous Bone), and thanks to its unique infrared beam positioner, the Osteospace transducers move (in X and Y directions) to the correct ROI. These moving transducers remedy the problem of other ultrasound units that used fixed probes.
The Osteospace is accurate for any sized foot.

The memorization of the probe position allows an optimal reproducability.

Simple and Fast unit: Thanks to its performent software, the Osteospace is the easiest tool for risk fracture assessment. In less than one minute the user can complete the test and no special user training is required.

Full exam report: Connected to a printer, the patient is provided with a full examination report, including the result and the position on the normality curve. Additional comments can be added by users.

Low cost: Compared to a DXA bone densitometer, the Osteospace has the quickest and best return on investment for your practice.
