Company Profile

About us
An economic white paper entitled “A Challenge to Affluence” was issued in 1969, when our Company was established. That year, Apollo 11 succeeded in its first-ever soft landing on the moon in human history. We were astonished by the advance in science and technology. The following year, the “World Expo of Osaka” brought us a feel of the dynamic development in the Japanese economy. Against such a backdrop, it is not coincident that the slogan “Keep asking the meaning of affluence” has become a part of our corporate identity.

As an R&D enterprise, we value the abilities to make judgements, formulate plans and create products. Our employees are encouraged to keep an inquisitive mind. Truly creative achievements emerge from hard work and individual thinking with a critical mind. Our employees are also encouraged to think independently, without having certain values imposed on them. I prefer to call this our “corporate attitude”. It is important for our society as well as individual enterprises to accept and respect individual differences and diversity in values. There is no doubt that diversity reflects one aspect of “affluence”.

Rapid progress in science and technology, and the development of new social and economic structures have brought about new issues that are complex and intertwined. In vitro fertilization, birth control, organ transplants, and brain death all raise new questions regarding human life. To deal with these issues, I would like our company’s attitude to be one which keeps asking the meaning of “affluence”.
