About Us
Our business is safety scalpels…
Medi-Safe is committed to providing you with the finest range of safety scalpel products best suited to your needs. We listen to you, the surgeons, nurses, surgical kit suppliers and all who use our scalpel.Your valued input ensures we maintain a pro-active development program.
Your safety is our business!
Vision:
To contribute to the creation of a safer, worldwide healthcare environment through the introduction of innovative safety products and solutions.
To play an active role in enhancing general awareness of medical/surgical safety in hospitals, doctors rooms, clinics and throughout our daily lives.
Mission:
Medi-Safe is committed to reducing the daily risks faced by healthcare workers and patients alike.
These risks are primarily “sharps injuries” and the associated risk of contracting a blood borne disease, as well as cross contamination and infection.
The success of our business is dependant on the uality and simplicity of use of our safety products. We therefore strive to create innovative solutions that will enhance the skills of healthcare workers and the quality of healthcare delivery.
Background:
The traditional surgical scalpel has changed little this past century; furthermore it does nothing to prevent sharps injuries and the associated risk of contracting blood-borne disease (e.g. HIV/AIDS,Hepatitis etc)
The attaching to or removal of the blade from the scalpel handle is a cumbersome process, often resulting ininjury. While there is an obviour risk to the Healthcare worker, the less obvious risk is that to the patient. If a surgeon or assistant is accidentally cut during a procedure, the patient is also placed at significant risk.
The passing of a used scalpel with exposed blade between surgeon and assistant is risky; any lapse in concentration may result in injury.
Protruding scalpel blades from a sharps bin may result in injury.
Misplaced or dropped scalpel blades place all healthcare workers at risk.
We at Medi-Safe are well aware of the resulting impact on productivity, the inevitable family and social issue, the stress placed on healthcare workers and the cost of treatment following a disease transmitted through a sharps injury.
