LUMACARE® for Photodynamic Therapy 28.04.2008

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is gaining momentum as a non-invasive procedure within the medical community and the need for a multi-wavelength, multi-protocol light source is becoming essential for PDT practitioners.

PDT Explained
Photodynamic therapy is a treatment using a photo-sensitizer, light and molecular oxygen to selectively kill cells. The photo-sensitizer is selectively retained by unhealthy tissue and is activated by light to destroy target tissue cells. Topical PDT using aminolevulonic acid (ALA) was first demonstrated in 1990, and has become the most commonly adopted technique. ALA is metabolised by local skin cells into a compound that has a photo-chemical reaction to light, causing cellular death. In the United States 20% 5-ALA is available as Levulan Kerastick® (DUSA Pharmaceuticals, USA), whilst the methyl ester is available in Europe and Australia as Metvix (Photocure ASA, Norway).

For light to activate the photosensitizer, the light produced by the light source must be within the absorption spectrum of the photosensitive molecules. The LumaCare systems provide the light output recommended for use with both Metvix and Levulan Kerastick.

LumaCare LC-122M
The LumaCare LC-122M system is a non coherent light source based on halogen light and is manufactured in the UK by Lynton Lasers Ltd., under contract from MBG Technologies Inc. LumaCare has an extensive array of fibre optic probe adaptors, meeting any optical protocol ranging from 400nm to 800nm. LumaCare light passes though several filtration stages to remove all unwanted visible and non visible light frequencies. The Fibre Optic Probe (FOP) sets are quickly and easily changed permitting different spot sizes, power densities, or wavelengths to match those of other laser and LED systems used in PDT.

Safe and effective PDT drug activation
LumaCare covers the entire wavelength spectrum required by Metvix and Levulan Kerastick, with variable probe options – including the most commonly used offering red light and blue light.
The advantage of the LumaCare system is that it allows practitioners to take advantage of the absorption maximum for ALA in the blue spectrum whilst also achieving the deepest tissue effects afforded by activation in the red light spectrum.

Specification

Halogen lamp emitting visible light between 400nm – 800nm
Fibre Optic Prope (FOP) sets tuned to specific approved emission requirements
Output Power 10 - 1,000mW/cm2
Spot size between 8mm OD - 200mm OD

LumaCare is a cost effective solution for multiple protocols, whether in vitro or in vivo, that eliminates the need for expensive single protocol systems or multiple light sources.

Litebeam+ for treatment of varicose veins 28.04.2008

Lynton Lasers has been selected by Dornier MedTech to distribute the Medilas D Litebeam+ Diode Laser system in the UK for Endovenous Laser Treatment (ELT) of varicose veins. Litebeam+ is a 30 watt, 940nm infra-red continuous wave Diode Laser tuned to vascular treatments. Its safety and efficacy have been tested and proven in extensive clinical trials, and ELT treatments have the unique benefit of being performed under local anaesthetic, enabling the patient to return to normal activities immediately. ELT treatments can be performed by General Practitioners as well as vascular surgeons, and therefore represent a great opportunity to medical aesthetic clinics seeking to widen their
treatment portfolio.

Litebeam+ features intuitive software control with automatic dosing, with variable energy, exposure time and number of pulses set by the operator using hot keys, and operated via a pneumatic
foot switch.

Compact and portable – small footprint and weighs 15kg
Quick to set up – requires only a standard electrical wall socket
Easily maintained – easy day-to-day house keeping and technical servicing from Lynton Lasers experts
Easy-to-use – hot keys give immediate access to common treatment options
Versatile – suitable for out patient environments for vascular lesions or well perfused tissues
Superior built in safety – the Lightguide Protection System immediately interrupts the laser beam if undesired carbonisation occurs at the fibre tip
Aiming beam for accurate targeting (645nm Diode laser)
ELT (Endovenous Laser Treatment) is proven to be very clinically effective in treatment of the greater saphenous vein (GSV). With the Litebeam+ delivering superior clinical treatments and clinical and technical back up from Lynton Lasers, practitioners are assured a successful business venture and fast return on investment.

How does Endovenous Laser Treatment work?

ELT involves the use of ultrasound to map the greater saphenous vein and guide the fibre-optic delivered laser beam through the vein to the groin. As the laser fibre is withdrawn from the vein it emits highly targeted energy to seal the vein shut, so that the branch veins close to the skin that become twisted and varicose shrink and disappear. Unlike alternative therapies such as sclerotherapy, ambulatory phlebectomy, ligation or vein stripping, Litebeam+ addresses the cause of varicose veins. Treatments are fast, safe and do not present the risks associated with open surgical procedures.
Fast out patient procedure with low risk
of complications
Low start-up and treatment costs
Minimal patient anxiety
Fast patient recovery time & minimal
patient discomfort
Very high success rate
Treatment Kit

All the consumable accessories required to perform a treatment are contained in a convenient single treatment kit that is available to purchase as required, or built into our
rental packages.

Litebeam+ is available to purchase or rent. Our unique rental option uniquely allows access to high value equipment without the need for a security commitment to a finance company.

Lynton Lasers will use their in-house team of laser experts to provide technical and clinical support to customers, and will also supply the consumables kit required for each procedure.

Lumina Q 28.04.2008

LUMINA® Q - Discover the world’s first

Lynton Lasers, a leading UK laser and pulsed light system manufacturer, is pleased to announce LUMINA Q, the world’s first combined system with intense pulsed light, long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser and dual wavelength Active Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser.

Many cosmetic doctors and aestheticians know that safe, effective, fast tattoo removal is a great business opportunity. Until now tattoo removal lasers have been large, expensive and out of reach for many clinics. Lynton Lasers is proud is announce the world’s first compact platform with all three technologies, at a very cost-effective price.

The compact patented design of LUMINA Q brings tattoo removal into the reach of smaller clinics, as well as other treatments (permanent hair reduction, red/blue veins, rosacea, photo-rejuvenation, pigmentation, active acne).

The original LUMINA system has already been proven in hundreds of clinics and hospitals, and the existing users won’t miss out, as they can add tattoo removal as well as a range of other applications to their system.

LUMINA Q also has the latest Lynton Lasers Intense Pulsed Light technology. Our new Advance™ hand-pieces take the speed and efficacy of Intense Pulsed Light hair removal treatments into a new realm. LUMINA Q Advance™ IPL hair removal quickly treats vellus and stubborn hairs that have often proved difficult to treat.

Active Q-switch lasers are accepted as the gold standard within the medical cosmetic community, quickly and effectively removing tattoos without damaging the surrounding skin. The LUMINA Q active control process produces a single laser pulse only a few nanoseconds long, with enough peak power photo-mechanically shatter tattoo pigment within the skin. The tattoo fragments are cleared away by white blood cell activity. The alternative technology of ‘passive’ Q switch lasers, which produce a long train of nanosecond laser pulses, have inferior peak power and therefore variable efficacy in removal of professional tattoos.

LUMINA Q covers all these treatments:

o Permanent Hair Reduction (with 650 Standard & 650 Advance Intense Pulsed Light and 1064nm Long Pulsed Nd:YAG Laser)
o Photo-rejuvenation (650 and 585 Intense Pulsed Light)
o Active Acne (585 Intense Pulsed Light)
o Superficial Pigmentation (585 Intense Pulsed Light and 532nm Active Q-Switched KTP Laser)
o Dermal Pigmentation (1064nm Active Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser)
o Multi-coloured Tattoo removal (Active Q-switched Nd:YAG/KTP Laser)
o Superficial Vascular Lesions (585 Intense Pulsed Light)
o Deep Vascular Lesion (1064nm Long Pulsed Nd:YAG Laser)

Many treatments, One Solution - LUMINA Q
