Establishment/Founding
In 1948, Professor Bracht, at the time medical superintendent for gynaecology in a Berlin hospital, visited Mr. Fritz Leisegang, managing director of the photo company Leisegang, and asked him, if it was possible for him to build a colposcope. After a short explanation of the medical requirements Mr. Leisegang recognized that it was quite a fitting product for his small precision-mechanics and optical company, which was associated with his photo company, and accepted.

The working group “Cervix pathology and colposcopy” appreciated the unusual commitment of Leisegang, which made a considerable contribution towards the expansion of the colposcopy over the years. The Leisegang colposcopes were constantly being improved and complied with the highest requirements of optical dissolution and picture documentation. In cooperation with specialists in the field of colposcopy comprehensive picture documentations were provided for further training.

The 3D-picture documentation and the reflection of the patient data into the pictures of a 35 mm camera was a high point of this development.

Models
Over the years, Leisegang developed a multiplicity of models for colposcopy. The development of a photo-colposcope was a large step within documentation.

Video colposcopes, with possible connections to various types of digital recording equipment, developed from the photo-colposcope with 35mm miniature films. And so today it is possible to connect a video camera, through a video adapter (also additional), with each Leisegang colposcope.

German value/quality work
The further assembling and adjustment of our colposcopes takes place via specialized manual work. It is therefore guaranteed that our customers will receive the proven Leisegang quality in the future.
