AUTOTRANSFUSION

Berco manufactures the Biodren, an entirely disposable kit which works on the cascade filter principle.
It can be an alternative to blood washing and thus suitable for postoperative use and also for emergency cases intraoperatively.
Biodren collects the blood from the patient’s sutured wounds through drainage.
Blood is collected into a rigid reservoir; option is given to add anticoagulant through a dedicated line.
When the recovery is of significance, or alternatively within the 4 hours from the beginning of the drainage, the recuperated blood is transferred into an appropriate blood-bag and subsequently re-transfused.
Biodren can be supplied either with an own electrical vacuum pump or with a ball hand pump, in order to actuate the system, supplying the right level of vacuum to drain blood easily into the reservoir.
