Axis-Shield produces innovative and important IVD’s
Axis-Shield is a global in vitro diagnostics business with development and manufacturing capabilities and three separate business areas. The company has a Laboratory Division selling to clinical laboratories, a Point-of-Care Division which supplies the near patient test sector, and the distribution businesses of Medinor for the Nordic area and Axis-Shield UK for the United Kingdom. We sell directly, through our own and third party distributors, and also via OEM contracts.

Axis-Shield has proprietary technology in near patient testing and a number of patented markers in areas of clinical need. In our home markets of the UK and the Nordic countries we sell not only our own products but also complementary in vitro and other medical devices.

About AxSYM® xtra
This range of Axis-Shield assays on the widely-placed AxSYM immunoassay analyser -is an important addition to the already comprehensive menu of this benchmark system.

First kits in this range are tests for D-Dimer, which is used to detect deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, and Active-B12 (also known as HoloTC or holo-transcobalamin) for the effective identification of vitamin B12 deficiency. A test to detect anti-CCP antibodies, as an aid in the early diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, was launched in December 2006.
